Tips for a Smooth Travel Experience

Longer days, warm nights and more free time means many people are hitting the road (or sky) as they head on summer vacation.

Vacations are fabulous, but traveling can be stressful. Packing, a change of routine, and a new environment or time zone are overwhelming – especially when you have kids in the mix.

Here are our must-have tips to make the experience more enjoyable!

1. Essential Oils to Soothe Travel Stress

Traveling can evoke anxiety in many people. Plus, if you're traveling to see family, the change in dynamic can create stress!

At Woolzies, we swear by using essential oils to quell any travel anxiety. Our Stress Blend helps when you're feeling panicky due to flying, travel delays, or familial conflict. It contains lavender, rose, vetiver, ylang ylang, bergamot, chamomile, and frankincense essential oil.  Sprinkle a few drops of this oil into your palms, rub them together and take a few deep inhales.

If you battle anxiety headaches, try applying our Woolzies Peppermint Oil Roll-On to the temples and back of the neck.

Note: Airlines allow 100 ml of liquid in your hand luggage, so 10ml essential oil bottles are safe to take if you're flying. Just make sure the bottles are well-sealed and kept in a clear bag.

    2. Pack Snacks

To sustain your energy and avoid highly processed gas station food, we suggest you pack snacks for the road! It'll help you save money and support your digestion, which is often negatively affected by travel.

Some convenient options to pack in Ziploc bags and Tupperware include:

    • Fruit
    • Protein bars
    • Individual packs of instant oatmeal
    • Fruit and veggie chips
    • Nuts and dried fruit
    • Hard-boiled eggs
    • Pre-sliced carrots and celery
    • Baby tomatoes
    • Mini cheeses
    • Roasted chickpeas
    • Popcorn
    • Beef jerky

      3. Use Essential Oils to Avoid Getting Sick

If one thing can ruin your vacation, it's getting sick! Unfortunately, the chances are relatively high due to sleep disruption, air travel, and a new environment.

Fortunately, essential oils can kill germs and boost immunity! We recommend keeping Woolzies Cold Stopper Oil Blend with you when traveling. You can also make a hand sanitizer using our Woolzies Germ Fighter Blend. It's a clean-smelling blend packed with powerful antimicrobial oils like basil, cardamom, rosemary, peppermint, geranium, lemon, palmarosa, and bergamot.

Follow this recipe adapted from Hello Glow:

        Ingredients

        • 3/4 cup isopropyl alcohol 70%
        • 5 tablespoons aloe vera gel
        • 1 teaspoon glycerin
        • 20 drops Woolzies Germ Fighter

        Method

Mix the ingredients in a bowl and pour slowly into a spray bottle. If flying, portion off a small amount into a 100 ml spray bottle to carry on the plane.

        4. Pack a Natural Bug Repellent

Essential oils are a must-have to keep irritating mosquitoes and bugs at bay when doing vacation activities like camping, BBQing, swimming, and hiking.

Citronella essential oil is one of the best natural bug repellents — the grassy aroma is hated by insects! It’s found in the Woolzies Bug Repellent blend, along with lemongrass, peppermint, catnip, thyme, basil, lemon, eucalyptus, almond, coconut, and olive oils. You can apply this directly to your ears, legs, feet, arms, and other exposed body parts before going outdoors.

          5. Invest in Earplugs

Babies on airplanes, sharing a room with a loud snorer, and traffic noise are just a few of the things that make it tricky to sleep when traveling. That's why good-quality, reusable earplugs are brilliant travel companions. They'll give you much-needed quiet time, helping you sleep and enjoy your vacation with as much energy as possible!

            6. Break Screen Time Rules

Call us crazy, but sometimes breaking screen time rules can be a lifesaver when traveling with kids! Invest in a budget tablet and load a few children's movies, videos, and (educational) games onto it. Whether you're in a car, train, or plane, this is a great way to keep them entertained and avoid meltdowns during a commute. Just make sure to get them some headphones.

Wishing you happy travels this summer from us at Woolzies!
